Jacobs Quantum Physicist in Washington, District Of Columbia

Your Impact:

Jacobs is seeking an experimental quantum physicist or engineer to join our dynamic team supporting our customer in the national capital region. In this position you’ll be a part of a team carrying out fundamental and applied quantum optics research addressing unique issues that require creative solutions. U.S. citizenship is required and the ability to obtain and/or maintain a secret level security clearance.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain a secret level security clearance.

  • Ph.D. and demonstrated expertise in experimental or applied physics, optics or other closely related fields.

  • Position requires strong verbal and written communications skills.

  • Position requires 10% travel per year.

Preferred:

  • Experience in quantum sensors and quantum clocks

  • Experience with atom interferometry

  • Demonstrated skills such as creative or independent problem solving

  • Experience with atomic cooling and trapping techniques

  • Experience with inertial sensing

  • Experience with entanglement, spin squeezing or active supperradiant emission

  • Experience with readout based on quantum nondemolition measurement

  • Experience with interrogation of nonclassical optical fields

  • Experience building custom optical characterization experiment and/or equipment.

  • Familiarity with common computer languages, e.g. Matlab, Comsol, Python , etc.
