Role Description: The Financial Reporting Manager will primarily be responsible for the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statements of CoStar and supporting the completion of other regulatory filings. The position will also assist with the resolution of technical accounting matters such as the implementation of new accounting standards and conducting research of authoritative accounting guidance to ensure transactions are recognized in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The Financial Reporting Manager will be responsible for working with the external auditors and assisting them with test of controls, interim procedures, quarterly reviews and year-end audits. This position will help to ensure support schedules are accurate and provided to the auditors timely. This position will also serve as a point of contact for external auditor questions and may assist the internal audit department with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements as needed.

Other responsibilities for this position include assisting with due diligence and purchase accounting procedures for acquisitions, coordinating with third party valuation experts for intangible asset valuations, and serving as a point of contact for external auditors’ questions related to acquisitions.

The Financial Reporting Manager should exhibit an in-depth knowledge of GAAP guidelines, SEC reporting requirements and auditor methodologies; strong ability to research, assess the impact and document technical accounting issues; strong project management, time management and organizational skills; strong work ethic; and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities :

  • Own the beginning-to-end process of producing the Company's quarterly and annual SEC filings, earnings release, registration statements, and all other external financial reporting requirements including drafting the MD&A, financial statement disclosures and related footnotes, and maintaining a SEC reporting calendar.

  • Partner with colleagues in other departments, including the internal Legal department and Investor Relations, in the drafting of Forms 10-Q and 10-K.

  • Lead coordination with and provide support for internal and external audits and reviews of SEC filings.

  • Coordinate the gathering and preparation of schedules to support financial statement disclosure.

  • Monitor changes in US GAAP and SEC requirements and ensure accounting practices, reporting, and disclosures are in compliance.

  • Coordinate the gathering and preparation of schedules to support financial statement disclosures.

  • Manage outsourced XBRL tagging process on applicable SEC filings.

  • Perform technical accounting research and special projects as requested.

  • Draft well-written accounting memos and position papers for material and/or complex transactions.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College.

  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.

  • Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to exercise initiative, good judgment, close attention to detail, and emphasis on process improvement.

  • Current CPA license.

  • Strong computer proficiency (Excel, Oracle and Wdesk) required.

  • 5 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting at a publicly traded company or public accounting.

  • Demonstrate a desire to learn, possess a good attitude, and work well independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience with SEC financial reporting (e.g., financial statements within Forms 10-K and 10-Q).

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

  • 8 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting at a publicly traded company or public accounting with a national firm with increasing levels of responsibility including monthly close, preparing financial statement.
