Job Description

 
2 full time, temporary, seasonal positions available 03/24/2024- 12/06/2024. Adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions. Refuels engine, lubricates machine parts, and monitors machine operations to ensure optimum performance. Observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions. Attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, spreaders or mowers to tractors, using bolts and hand tools. Drives, maneuvers, navigates and operates one or more mechanized equipment, such as tractors, trucks, and skid steers to perform specified farm activity such as digging trees, planting trees, mowing and spraying. Hitches wagons to tractor, and operates tractor and wagon to move trees to staging area. Drives tractor and operates designated towed machine, such as tree planter, spreader, mower or sprayer to plant, fertilize, mow and spray trees. Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions or powders into sprayers. Spray fertilizer, fungicide, herbicide or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus, weed growth, and diseases, using hand or engine-powered pump sprayers. Plants seedlings or digs up and transplants seedlings and sets, using hand tools such as spades and shovels. Walks beside or rides on planting machine while inserting plants in planter mechanism at specified intervals. Chops out weeds and trims trees using manual and mechanized equipment working as crew member. Harvests Christmas trees using chainsaws and mechanized balers. Stacks trees on wagons and trucks and moves to loading area. Work with apple tree maintenance and harvest including additionally suckering and summer pruning, repair apple bins with hand and pneumatic tools. Operate tractors, forklifts, and trucks to spread empty and haul filled apple bins. Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping, Employer will furnish to workers, without costs, all tools and equipment required in the performance of the duties assigned. Workers should report for work with their own suitable work clothing. Field temperatures may range from -30 degrees to 90+ degrees (F) and work may be done in the rain, snow, mud, wind and sun.
