Role Overview:
The Senior Director of Global Product Quality is to lead the design, implementation, execution, and continuous improvement of the Genie Quality Management System with the strategic goal of delivering the highest quality products in the in our industry as measured by direct customer feedback and Total Cost of Ownership. As a core member of the Global Operations Function and Genie Extended Leadership Team, The Sr. Director of Product Quality will provide guidance and strategic direction on to the leadership team and cross-functional Quality staff in support of end-to-end Quality improvement, including fit-for-purpose designs, supplier quality performance, manufacturing quality, and delivery quality. This role will advise on the design of and directly manage the Global Product Quality Team at Genie with representation in all core functions impacting Product Quality. In addition, this role will be critical to building a culture of Quality throughout Genie and in key cross functional talent development in support of the strategic goal.
Responsibilities:
Develop and build a Global Product Quality Team to manage end-to-end Product Quality
Provide clear direction for overall Product Quality strategy for the entire Genie product portfolio
Chair the Genie customer feedback and response process to ensure timely and complete action to customer feedback on opportunities for improvement in Product Quality
Partner with key functions to:
Implement best management practices to evaluate New Product Designs to ensure customer expectations for reliability are understood and met
Review, prioritize, and improve content and execution of supplier quality management in new supplier selection and current supplier performance including Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Quality Control Plans, Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR), and structured, periodic supplier audits
Review, prioritize, and improve management practices and execution of manufacturing quality management, including Critical to Quality (CTQ) attributes, Quality Control Plans, Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) processes, and process compliance audits
Review and improve methods of packaging and delivery of products to ensure they arrive free from damage or functional quality issues
Collaborate with Genie Product Management, Commercial Sales Leaders, and Customers to ensure quality measurement and improvement targets align with customer expectations and the strategic goal to be a leader in Quality in our industry
Establish both strategic and annual performance targets in Quality, participate in data collection and continuous improvement actions based on actual performance to plan
Education
Bachelor's degree in engineering or business preferred
MBA or other related advanced degree preferred
Requirements:
Approximately 25% of the time will be spent travelling to the manufacturing sites based in the US, Mexico, Italy, China, and India.
A strong background in engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and lean is required
Previous experience of multi-site operations.
10 years of relevant experience in Quality Management Practices in an OEM or Tier 1 OEM supplier
5 years of experience leading Quality Teams, preferably in a Global and cross-functional environment
Understanding of product development processes and Product Qualification Planning (PQP)
Demonstrated skill in improving supplier quality performance
Skilled in interacting both internally and externally on topics of Quality
Working knowledge of both six sigma and lean methodologies for variation and waste elimination
Ability to consistently demonstrate the Terex Way values
Track record of effective leadership in prioritization and team problem solving
Experience in successfully managing and leading multi-functional, geographically diverse teams both directly and via matrix management
Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills with the ability to develop relationships across levels, geographies and segments; able to communicate with Team Members on the shop floor and at the corporate executive level.
Salary: The salary range for this position is $190,000 to $250,000.
