Description:At Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control

This position is responsible for managing the Machining Operations Center (MOC), reporting to
the Director of Manufacturing Operations at the
Missiles and Fire Control plant located in
Orlando, FL. The MOC produces ultra-precision
machined components that are the foundation of
electro-optic targeting systems used primarily for
defense applications. The parts supplied by this
center support sales in excess of $1B annually.
This position will have direct responsibility for
the manufacturing staff (machinists, supervision,
inspection, paint, plating, and assembly) and will
also direct the daily activities of the Functional
support staff, approximately 200 people overall.

Candidates must have direct leadership
experience in a complex manufacturing
environment and be able to balance multiple
program priorities through a common
manufacturing facility. This position is
responsible for planning labor and equipment
capacity, including management of the capital
investment required to execute the planned
business. Other responsibilities include
recruiting and training of the technician and
supervision staff in a Collective Bargaining
Agreement (union) environment, leadership of
the MOC Corrective Action Board (CAB) and
management of the continuous improvement
process through the use of Lean Manufacturing
concepts. This position is responsible for
successful Nonrecurring Expenditures (NRE) and
delivery of parts from the MOC within cost, on
schedule and ensuring the quality of the
hardware.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the
ability to lead and motivate a workforce with
diverse technical skills. The ideal candidate will
have a proven record of leadership in a
comparable manufacturing environment.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering,
Manufacturing or related field.

Sufficient technical aptitude to understand
customer needs, plan success strategies, and
execute.

Minimum of 10 years of related experience in
production operations or engineering and with 5
years experience leading and motivating a
manufacturing team.

Superior communication skills, written and
verbal, to support regular presentations to the
executive staff.

Demonstrated ability to manage production cost
experience, delivery parts on time and meet
quality standards.

Proven ability to get results and manage diverse
resources.

Must have the ability to obtain a US Government
Security Clearance.
Desired Skills:
Manufacturing leadership experience in a high
mix, low volume production environment.

Technical experience with Infrared or electro-optic systems.

Experience working with ultra-precision
machines, machining processes, and mechanical
assemblies.

Experience in both a prototype and
manufacturing machining environment.

Experience working in a DOD manufacturing
environment.

Experience leading in a union environment.

Demonstrated ability to think strategically.

Demonstrated commitment to Performance
Management Teams (PMT).

Demonstrated MRP and procurement experience.

Proven ability to utilize Lean/6 Sigma principles
to get results.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
