Applied Research Solutions Research Staff/Technician Engineer in Dayton, Ohio

Description

Applied Research Solutions is seeking a full-time Research Staff/Technician Engineer located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH. The Research Staff/Technician Engineer’s primary function will be to provide optical engineering support for the thermal blooming HEL lab while supporting the Air Force Institute of Technology Center for Directed Energy (AFIT/CDE).

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide optical engineering support for the thermal blooming HEL lab

  • Conduct in-house and collaborative research projects to aid in further validation of software tools and to note additional ways to provide users additional capabilities

  • Participate in and/or present research efforts and findings at meetings to update the DE community on funded-task fulfillments

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen

  • 3 Years’ experience in a laboratory setting

  • Bachelors or better in optics/physics or related field

  • Active DoD Secret or ability to obtain/maintain

  • Matlab and Mathematica experience required

  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD Software

  • Comprehension of mechanical and electrical systems (pumps, power supplies, interlocks)

  • Basic LAN networking
