Kadiak, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Vaccination and Occupational Health Support Services (VOHSS) Registered Nurse with a Public Trust Clearance to support Kadiak and our government customer in Washington, DC, and other Department of State Annex site in Arlington VA.

Work Hours:

  • Services are to be provided between the hours of M-F 0800-4:30.

  • Remain Flexible to meet agency needs.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • The Registered Nurse works independently with guidance from physicians and using standing orders to assess patient overseas travel needs.

  • Nurses use best practice guideline to administer recommended vaccines, maintains medical records and assists patients in complying with prescribed medical regimens.

  • Nurses provide health care assessment to employees who develop health issues at the employment site. Nurses working in this position may have experience as an emergency department nurse, operating room nurse, industrial nurse, nurse practitioner, and clinical nurse specialist. This nurse may supervise LPNs and Nursing Assistants.

  • Plans and provides comprehensive nursing care in accordance with professional nursing standards, and uses recommendations from CDC, WHO, ACIP to develop care plan.

  • Nurses assess employees with may develop emergent conditions while on the job. The nurse provides care following medical guidelines, and may seeks physician guidance, takes preplanned emergency measures or requests 911 assistance.

  • Prepares travelers going on official business with medication and information needed for safe and healthy travel.

  • Provides direction for prescribed medications and protection from environmental challenges.

  • Provides assistance to overseas medical personal on past immunization status and various healthcare issues.

  • Participates in all required training and competency assessments according to staffing contract and policies and Sops to maintain ability to work in assigned clinic.

  • Performs components of physical exams which may include, but are not limited to, Vital signs, height and weight, Audiometry, Vision testing, ECG, Spirometry, Phlebotomy, and TB skin testing. Documentation of all clinical data on all required forms.

  • Education and Related Experience:

  • Current CPR/BLS is required.

  • Current registration

  • Graduate from a NLN accredited School of Nursing.

  • Current unrestricted RN license in DC/VA

Requirements:

  • Background in travel medications and immunizations is highly desired.

  • You must have the ability to pass a Moderate Risk Public Trust. A current Department of State Public Trust is highly desired.

  • Proficiency in all skills reported to perform clinical services listed above including phlebotomy, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, and basic life support.

  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the clinical nursing duties (e.g., CPR performance, responding immediately to an emergency, carrying a thirty (30) pound Emergency Go-Bag, etc.) without accommodation as well as free from any communicable disease(s).

  • Must be willing to work at both locations (DC and Arlington VA)

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This nurse may supervise LPNs and Nursing Assistants.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) eligible

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
