Job Summary: The utility position ensures that safe productive process flow and continuity is achieved is always achieved by assisting the operator, operator 2, field operator, and equipment operator positions. The job may include some or all of the following: safely moving and shifting rail cars, unloading rail cars, loading rail cars and trucks, bagging materials, replace and install baghouse bags in an environmentally safe way, shoveling, cleaning, manning the feed, tube, relieving production personnel for breaks, assisting the maintenance crew with various tasks, general grounds maintenance, and learning each piece of plant equipment for possible future advancement. The utility position must learn and qualify on all mobile equipment. The utility person must be able to take orders, have good communication skills, and get along well with others. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Ensures proper material blending quality and quantity to all production processes
2. Responsible for general area cleaning and lubrication of all plant equipment
3. Able to safely take and follow direction, communicate, and work well with others
4. Relieve production positions as required
5. Must learn the purpose and relationship of all plan process and mobile equipment
6. Unload and load railcard and trucks
7. Properly sample production processes and learn how to operate lab equipment
8. Must be able to fill out paperwork for unloading EAF cars & operate rail scale

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist with maintenance especially when the equipment is down
2. Must be willing and able to learn all production positions

SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB:
1. Must be conscientious and well coordinated
2. Must be able communicate well (written, verbal, hand signals, and otherwise)

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO PERFORM THE JOB DUTIES:
1. Have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
2. 2 Years of mobile equipment training or experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB:
1. Ability to lift 75 to 100lbs to waist level and carry the same for short durations
2. Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, push, pull and walk for extensive periods of time

LICENSING OR OTHER SPECIAL CERTICATIONS REQUIRED: 
1. Must gain and maintain HAZWOPER Training Certification
2. Must be qualified to wear a respirator
3. Must obtain and maintain in-house mobile equipment licensing
