Required Skills:
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Data or Computer Science or similar field required, and 2 years of professional work experience in a predictive analytics-focused role. Additionally, a qualified applicant’s experience must include the following: (1) 2 years of experience using Python, Anaconda, R, Pandas and SQL to support data analysis in Staging and Production environments; (2) 2 years of experience using SQL, Snowflake, EDW and SnowPark for database operations in Staging and Production environments; (3) 2 years of experience using distributions, statistical testing, regression, k-NN, Naïve Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, Forecasting and Deep Learning to effectively build predictive models; (4) 2 years of experience using Natural Language Processing Pipelines, LDA, CNN, Vader, Lemmatization and Tokenization to support natural text modelling, Classification and Sentiment Analysis; (5) 2 years of experience using Azure Databricks, Azure ML and DataRobot to maintain data pipelines and predictive models in Production Environment; (6) 2 years of experience using Python, JavaScript, RESTful APIs and HTML to build data acquisition pipeline in Azure and local environments; (7) 2 years of experience using PowerBI, Matplotlib and GGplot2 to effectively build dashboards and data visualizations; and (8) 1 year of experience documenting technical specifications of predictive models and analytical outcomes for non-technical business stakeholders.

Job Description:
The Data Scientist is responsible for using their skillset to create recommendations for complex business decisions for Off-Road Vehicles (ORV) at Polaris using a wide variety of data science techniques - from exploratory data analysis to predictive analytics. In addition to advanced analytics skills, the Data Scientist is proficient at integrating and preparing large, varied datasets, designing and implementing production algorithm scoring, and communicating results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. The Data Scientist’s focus will be on the Off-Road Vehicles (ORV) business, and optimizing decisions related to repair order and service cases from CRM. The Data Scientist will develop advanced end-to-end analytics and technology solutions that drive value for the business and customer. The Data Scientist will have the following responsibilities: Ability to understand business problems and develop end to-end data driven solutions; Extract, cleanse, and combine large datasets from multiple sources and systems; Perform exploratory and targeted analyses, with a wide variety of statistical methods including clustering, regression, decision tree/random forest, time series, neural network, and others; Collaborate cross-functionally to arrive at actionable insights; Synthesize results with business input to drive measurable change and effectively communicate technical analyses and results to business management; Integrate and productionize model results into both cloud and edge computer hardware platforms; Ensure quality of data & solutions throughout development process; Utilize existing templates to diligently write up findings and results for storage in a central location; Collect feedback from business users to continuously improve data science products. This position permits telecommuting, occasionally reporting to Polaris’s office in the Minneapolis metropolitan area, therefore, the applicant must live within a reasonable commuting distance.
