Job Description

The Network Engineer Co-Op role will provide technical support for the enterprise voice and data network to address client business requirements and provide support for out-of-service events. Guidance is provided by the Team Leader and/or senior Team members. The incumbent will complete routine requests to deliver voice and data network services including design, implementation and performance management, as well as related hardware, software and services required to provide business requirements and overall strategy.

Essential Functions

Strategy & Planning

* Contribute to process improvement plans.

* Participate in planning routine software product maintenance.

* Automate Infrastructure Services

Acquisition & Deployment

* Assist with the identification and implementation of solutions that provide enhanced functionality and value.

* Deploy service solutions that simplify processes.

Operational Management

* Perform routine tasks (address service requests related to DNS, IP, load balancer, telephony needs, datacenter; port configurations, capacity planning and network Moves, Adds and Changes deployments).

* Monitor control systems (incident reports, alerts in Spectrum and WAN activity in Scrutinizer).

* Handle open cases with vendors by utilizing the vendor tools. Such vendors include: AT&T, Verizon, Granite, and Cisco Viptela.

* Replace failed hardware from our hardware depot / site reclaims. Open cases with vendors and ensure service levels are met. Follow procedures as defined for this process.

* Measure and report on services rendered (monthly metrics and project status reports).

* Report and compile network metrics that matter to the business.

Incidental Functions

* Assist with Change Management preparations and implementations.

* Attend meetings in participation with the team.

* Assist with other projects as may be required to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the group.

Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications

* Must be 18 years of age.

Formal Education & Certification

* Must have a high school degree or equivalent (i.e., GED).

* Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in IT or a Business-related field (i.e., finance, supply chain, etc.) with a strong interest in IT and Digital Technology.

* Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.

* Rising Junior or Senior status preferred.

* Preferred classroom and/or experience in network services (SD-WAN, MPLS, VOIP, telephony, ISP, Provisioning, load balancer, DNS/IP management)

* Previous Sherwin-Williams Internship or Co-Op experience preferred.

Knowledge & Experience

* Basic knowledge or experience with computer hardware and/or software.

* Basic understanding of information technology infrastructure and computer platforms.

* Basic understanding of computer administration concepts.

* Customer service-related work preferred.

* Knowledge or experience with network hardware/software trouble-shooting preferred.

* Knowledge or experience with IT technical support a plus.

* Basic knowledge and understanding of VOIP solutions, eco-system and best practices preferred.
