Overview




The Center for Suicide Prevention and Research is seeking a Research Assistant to join our team. Working under supervision, the Research Assistant will engage in study start-up, & the enrollment, recruitment, and retention of research participants. The Research Assistant will conduct clinical interviews for both children and adults and obtain mental health history. The Research Assistant will frequently review suicidal behavior (e.g., thoughts and attempts), past and current, with a need to determine if further intervention is indicated. Traditional Hours are Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:30pm, with one late night per week required 12pm - 8:30pm. Travel to recruitment sites in Ohio required.

Responsibilities





PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Travel to multiple recruitment sites.
Recruit families and obtain informed consent for study participation.
Screen potential participants, schedule, and track study visits.
Conduct research interviews with participants and their families, both in-person and over the phone.
Collect, enter and clean data.
Assist with providing crisis support to suicidal participants and their families during times of mental health crisis.
Review medical records for fidelity of written safety plan.


Qualifications





KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Bachelor's Degree in social science, health, or behavioral field
Previous research experience preferred
Experience working in the mental health field and with individuals with suicidal thoughts or actions preferred
Effective customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills required
Professionally appropriate analytical skills required
Organizational skills and attention to details required
Reliable transportation required

Minimum Physical Requirements

Must be able to see, hear, speak, and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation and care for oneself, with little or no difficulty. Performance of principal duties and responsibilities may require ability to travel.
