Job Description:
Position Summary:
Design, deploy, and manage the organization's data architecture. Collaborate with technology and management teams to understand structural requirements and define standards for how data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed across the organization and translate into a usable blueprint. Build an inventory of data needed to implement architecture and create a vision for how data will flow through the organization. Design and build complex data models, approve modifications, and implement systems. Implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility, constantly monitoring and refining the performance of data management systems. Produce and enforce database development standards.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Perform data engineering tasks on highly complex assignments including building and maintaining data pipelines, data transformation, data cleansing, data masking, building data APIs, etc.

Understand root-cause and lead the team in resolution of high complexity issues.

Recommend, implement, and drive changes within area based on industry trends, business needs and analysis of current issues that result in quality technology solutions.

Work with data models and architecture elements to recommend and approve designs, develop proposed changes and improvements to increase efficiencies.

Demonstrate advanced knowledge of technologies required to perform data engineering job responsibilities.

Support the enterprise Data Governance framework by implementing and maintaining security controls for data pipelines, enforcing data management policies, and ensuring adequate data quality.

Encourage and lead continuous improvement processes, ensure appropriate documentation and knowledge sharing across the entire team.

Mentor and assist with development of junior data engineers.
Required Skills:

3+ years of data engineering experience or in a similar role.

Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a similar field.

3+ years of hands-on experience with implementing or configuring AWS cloud services: EC2, RDS, S3, Redshift, Glue, etc.

Advanced experience with tools and concepts related to data and analytics, such as dimensional modeling, ETL, data mining, reporting tools, data warehousing, structured and unstructured data.

Advanced ETL and data orchestration experience using StreamSets, Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, and/or Control-M.

Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Java, Python or SQL programing languages.

Previous experience using agile development methodologies.

Advanced experience with data validation and data cleansing techniques and processes.
Preferred Skills:

AWS Could certification.

Spark/Java development experience.

Previous experience or knowledge of Insurance/ Financial Services industry.
Soft Skills:

Excellent communication skills with solid project management and organizational skills.

Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

Excellent problem solving, numerical and analytical skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.

Strong competencies to lead and drive key initiatives.

Attention to detail and willingness to learn.

If you're in a commutable distance (90 minutes) you'll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules.
