JOB SUMMARY:

Position Summary
Under general supervision, assists Maintenance A Workers with the task of completing work orders for routine and non-routine requests, including preventative and corrective maintenance; may work independently, performing basic processes and procedures, to accomplish routine tasks that do not require the same degree of specialized skills as a Maintenance A Worker.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Service Calls & Emergency Response - This position is oriented towards customer service. Responds to work order requests, including but not limited to changing filters, greasing bearings, cleaning coils, punching tubes, maintaining salt levels in water softeners, replacing lamps/ballasts, and replacing ceiling tiles.

Painting - Will be required to perform minor patching of damaged walls and paint.

Prepare work site; demobilize and clean work site; clean and organize shop areas and mechanical rooms.

Perform fire extinguisher testing and record keeping of same.
Perform sustainable recycling functions to include lamp and hazardous waste reclamation.

Assist with pre-construction demolition.

Working Conditions

Hours differ dependent upon position.
This position requires physical work including bending and standing for long periods of time, ladders, and heights, lifting up to 75 pounds, using heavy equipment and traveling to on- and off-campus locations.
This position may be exposed to labs, animal areas, loud noise, chemicals, and temperatures based on weather.

***Benefits for this position are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement with IUOE Local 148. Union employees receive health, retirement, and tuition benefits, as well as sick time and paid vacation.

Hourly Rate:$20.29

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
Must have a State of Missouri Class E or above driver's license or the equivalent from another state prior to employment.
24-hour availability for emergencies and willingness to work overtime.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical school attendance in maintenance/trade related courses strongly preferred.
One year of experience within a facilities environment or contractor.
