JOB REQUIREMENTS: Duties The incumbent will be part of a full Sleep
Medicine Clinic that includes one Sleep Physician, one Nurse
Practitioner, Respiratory Therapists and Sleep Respiratory Therapists.
We provide consultation with sleep specialists, follow-up visits, home
sleep testing, and DME. The department in conjunction with Mental Health
provides a CPAP adherence class for those veterans struggling to utilize
PAP. The sleep clinic at the NAVAHCS sees patients with sleep illnesses
and other conditions relating to the subspecialty of sleep medicine.
Clinic services will be required to be performed by the Physician five
days per week and will include patient evaluation, examination, and
assessment of sleep problems. This position requires basic knowledge of
CPAP/BIPAP therapy and sleep medicine. Duties to be performed include,
but are not limited to: Performs examinations of patients and
establishes medical diagnoses by patient history, physical examination,
and other criteria through telemedicine clinics. Reviews interpreted
sleep studies, CPAP titration studies, and overnight oximetry reports.
Reviews and interprets compliance data as downloaded from data cards
from PAP devices. Reviews and triages sleep consults. Reviews and
completes Sleep-e consults. Reviews and adjusts CPAP/BIPAP devices as
needed. Reviews and interprets PFT results, if trained. Determines the
need for supplemental oxygen \>4LPM (New referrals). Builds and sustains
collaborative relationships, works to resolves conflicts at lowest
possible level. Effectively supports VHA, Network, and NAVAHCS
initiatives, identifies unique opportunities to expand quality, access,
and timeliness of care to veterans. Promotes safety with prescribed
cautionary procedures and completes all accident reports within agency
timeframes. Participates in quality improvement/quality assurance
activities for the assigned work area and service or service line. VA
