Job Description Summary:
The Washington State University (WSU) Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) seeks to fill a full-time continuous career track (clinical track) or permanent tenure track faculty position in cardiology. The position is available immediately. Salary range is $145,000 - $200,000 depending on qualifications and level of experience and includes a generous benefits package. This position may be eligible for an additional stipend based on clinical service. The Department is open to novel position structures, including partial/hybrid appointments, which could allow for private sector activities.
Summary of Duties:
The successful applicant will provide clinical service within the Cardiology service while providing clinical and didactic instruction of professional veterinary students, interns, and residents. Opportunities may exist for scholarship/research within the candidate's area of interest. Successful applicants should be able to effectively communicate and work collegially and collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds and demonstrate a commitment and relevant ability to successfully advocate for diversity and values of diversity and inclusion.
Required Qualifications:
The candidate must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD) degree or foreign equivalent degree (i.e., BVSc), and be board-eligible by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Subspecialty- Cardiology (ACVIM-Cardiology) or board-certified, by the date of hire.
Considerations regarding faculty track and rank will be determined based on the interests and qualifications of the candidate, as will division of effort. For tenure track consideration, candidates must demonstrate a significant record of scholarship. Regardless of faculty track, candidates for Associate Professor and Professor should have evidence of progressively higher levels of experience and expertise in the provision of outstanding clinical service, clinical teaching, and/or research/scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications for both career and tenure track applicants include a record of scholarly productivity consistent with the level of experience and appropriate to rank and track (Assistant or Associate/Career or Tenure), as evidenced by collaborative basic, clinical or applied research and publication of results in peer-reviewed scientific journals, evidence of expertise in teaching, and commitment to provision of outstanding clinical service.
