Technical Program Manager, Google Play Games

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in software development, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience managing projects in a technical/software engineering environment.
  • Experience coordinating, managing, and facilitating communication between teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with program management (e.g., planning, execution, estimation, risk management, stakeholder management).
  • Ability to produce frameworks and documents that communicate status, scope, timelines, task planning, action items, risks, issues, project dependencies, test planning, or rollout planning.
  • Excellent leadership, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical groups.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Engineering, Product Managers, Directors, and Tech Lead/Managers to accelerate execution.
  • Manage the portfolio planning and prioritization. Partnering with Engineering and Product teams to drive Roadmap/OKR planning, milestones, and software schedules.
  • Represent the team, present proposals with cross-site, cross-Product Area, and executive audiences.
  • Design processes and improve communication.
  • Partner and build relationships across functional, organizational, and product area boundaries.
