Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development in the Whitman School of Management, the Associate Director of Development will be responsible for creating and implementing a strategy for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors. This individual will focus on building a portfolio of donors with a wide range of capacity and inclination to make gifts in the $25,000-$100,000+ range from alumni, parents and friends. The Associate Director will engage with prospects in person and virtually.

The Associate Director of Development will coordinate their outreach with the Whitman School teams and with Regional Advancement, especially Leadership Giving and the Regional Team, in Central AEA. The Associate Director will be essential in developing the major gift pipeline as well as working with a portfolio of major gift donors.

Key metrics include number of face-to-face/virtual visits, number and dollar amount of solicitations, acquiring, renewing and upgrading leadership level annual gifts, major gift referrals and increased <s/c/u> alumni giving participation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of three years fundraising experience, in Higher Education preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft applications, and CRM systems.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Experience in qualifying prospects and soliciting gifts while managing all stages of the relationship, and building the major gift pipeline.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills with internal and external constituents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate the case for support.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow through.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt and work in a rapidly changing environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Goal driven team player but also capable of working independently.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
  • Manage an assigned caseload of leadership annual prospects/donors with a wide range of capacity and inclination to support WSoM. Working closely with numerous AEA central teams, identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors. Communicate with donors regularly through email, virtual visits, face-to-face visits, phone, and handwritten correspondence. Develop and maintain relationships with WSoM admin, faculty, and volunteers.
  • Meaningful contact or attempted contact of 100% of portfolio during any 6-month period.
  • Solicit all assigned prospects for a leadership annual gift.
  • Creatively and meaningfully engage donors with WSoM via annual fund appeals, interactions with key staff, information about programs and student accomplishments, campus visits, activities online & in their region. Involve them as volunteers with the intent to identify key leadership positions on various boards/councils.
  • In collaboration with the Asst Dean for Advancement/Senior Dir of Development, work with school/college/unit and central AEA offices, including Adv Services, Prospect Dev and Analytics, Philanthropic Engagement, Gift Planning, Regional Development, and Alumni Engagement to increase giving, participation and engagement, major gift referrals, and meet personal and unit fundraising goals.
  • Travel to meet donors.
  • Report results of all gifts/solicitation efforts in the CITRUS/CRM database and to the Senior Director of Development. Generate and keep updated plans and opportunities. Ensure the accuracy of data entry and maintenance and updating of records.
  • Attend and provide appropriate staff support at donor, prospect, and engagement related events.
  • Perform related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishments of the responsibilities and functions related to this position.
