As Senior Nursing Technician, you will float between units to support daily operations, patient care and workflow as needed. This is a hands-on role that requires a present, attentive and patient caregiver who is willing to learn new medical technologies and thrive in a fast-paced environment. On this team, you will gain a wide variety of skills and have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 3:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Prepare units, patient rooms and patient beds for receiving patient admission, returning surgical patients, transfer or emergencies.
- Provide and document assigned care, such as bathing, changing/refreshing bed linens, dressing/undressing, feeding, etc.
- Take and document the patient's temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight and height.
- Perform treatment procedures, such as venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice and heat packs, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, setting up overhead trapeze and Buck’s traction.
- Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner.
- Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer and discharge.
- Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly.
- Document patient care in the electronic medical record.
- Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure.
- Prepare patients for meals, assists in feeding patients if necessary and distribute water and other nourishments according to patient needs in compliance with physician orders.
- Collect, properly label and transport specimens to proper area in timely manner.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within new hire period
- Basic computer knowledge and skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
- One year of recent acute care experience

Physical Requirements:
- Full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity and good eye-hand coordination
- Extensive standing and walking
Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work
