We have an Electrical CAD Designer position available in Eden Prairie, MN. This person will prepare clear, complete, and accurate documentation with accuracy, attention to detail and within budget restraints. This position will include creating routine layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, diagrams, & schematics from rough or detailed sketches, or notes for engineering according to defined CAD standards.
Skills Requirement:
Some knowledge of Electrical concepts. (UL508, NFPA, Etc.)
A working knowledge base of AutoCAD & AutoCAD Electrical
General working knowledge of the Windows 10 operating system
Effective knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, etc.
Able to effectively communicate with the engineering team and other designers via phone, email, etc.
Ability to work with multiple CAD Standards
Attention to detail, and product pride
Works with limited direction from project engineers
Experience Requirement:
AAS degree in Computer Aided Drafting/ Design or equivalent degree is preferred
Drafting/Design experience in Electrical concepts and terminology. (i.e., Ladder, Loop, and PID diagrams
3-5 years experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical
3-5 years of drafting experience in the electrical field
Strong written, verbal, mathematical, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities and Duties:
Follow general and specific industry guidelines and best practices
Read, learn, and apply the general and client-specific CAD Standards to all drawings
Utilize knowledge of CAD software to complete drawings
Draft finished designs from engineer's sketches or from other engineering documentation
Visually compare the design of components, or other equipment with datasheets of components, matching electrical terminations, etc. for accurate drafting of components
After preliminary drafting is completed, print out the drawing sets for quality assurance review following company procedures
Review questions or concerns with the engineers or project managers and redline the drawing set accordingly
Other Responsibilities:
Perform other work-related duties as assigned
Work as a member of a design team, cooperating with the team leader and with WME management in an effective manner to perform engineering work of a high quality, with no errors
Be aware of budget and schedule constraints on all work executed by and for WME. Make every effort to complete assignments on time and on schedule
Treat all WME and customer information in a confidential manner
Understand and abide by office policies and procedures
Inform the supervisor of problems or issues that affect the company's ability to meet customer requirements
Understand and efficiently use Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and AutoCAD
Maintain and continually improve technical and professional abilities described above and required to perform assigned tasks
