Extrusion Technician

Toro is seeking an Extrusion Technician to become a valued member of our dynamic manufacturing team. Based at our Beverley production facility, this role is responsible for producing extruded product and components consistent with quality, safety, and performance specifications, while accepting overall and single shift responsibility.

What will you do?

• Coordinating the activities of the shift to ensure efficient running of the extrusion lines to conform with Toro production and quality standards.

• Operating the extrusion lines to ensure product complies with quality and performance specifications.

• Performing and directing preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on equipment.

• Directing the day-to-day activities of the Extrusion Operator (and other casual labour as required), during shift.

• Extruded and molded product testing while maintaining quality records.

• Troubleshooting faults and identifying causes of manufacturing defects and interruptions.

• Identifying, recommending, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

• Sample taking and visual inspection of molded product.

• Attending to molding machine alarms to ensure continuous operation.

This is a 24/7 rotating 12-hour day and night shift role (4 day on/off roster) and is key to the performance and efficiency of our 24-hour continuous production operation. Reliability, punctuality and attendance is essential. 

What do you need?

• Prior continuous plastics tube extrusion experience is essential with a sound knowledge of plastics extrusion.

• Strong mechanical aptitude coupled with well-developed problem solving and diagnostic skills.

• Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and also co-operatively as part of a successful team and perform work to company standards.

• High levels of energy and motivation, coupled with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.

• Current senior first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.

• A valid forklift license.
