About the Job



Head Men's Soccer Coach
Position Description:
The Head Men's Soccer Coach is responsible for leading and directing all aspects of a NCAA Division III Men's soccer program that advances the mission of intercollegiate athletics and the University. The head coach supervises assistant coaching staff; leads student recruiting and retention efforts; coaches student athletes and fosters their skill development; leads coaching plans and implementation at practices and competitions, provides students' safety, health and well-being, assures compliance with NCAA, UMAC and university policies; provides sound fiscal management; supervises equipment oversight, scheduling, travel planning, and summer camps; oversees off-season programs and athlete development; and coordinates program communication and fundraising efforts with the Athletic Director, Communications and Marketing, and Advancement.
The head coach will build an effective coaching staff with a shared vision, coordinate a comprehensive recruitment program for student athletes working collaboratively with the Office of Admissions, build and retain a diverse and talented team, foster good sportsmanship and a climate of respect, and provide an environment that supports students in achieving their athletic, academic and life goals.

This is a full time, 10-month, annually renewable appointment. Starting salary is competitive and negotiable with experience and a record of success. The position carries excellent fringe benefits.

Qualifications



Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities
A Bachelor's degree and demonstrated effectiveness playing and/or coaching soccer is required.
Required qualifications include: excellent organization, oral and written communication skills, an appreciation for the philosophy of the NCAA Division III
Strong program management skills, the ability to recruit and retain qualified and talented student athletes
A demonstrated commitment to students' athletic and academic success
The demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and retain a diverse, inclusive, successful team with sensitivity to individuals of all cultural backgrounds
Capacity to be a visible and engaging leader.
Preferred
A Master's degree, college coaching experience and/or participation at the collegiate level are preferred.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an appreciation for the mission and value of a public liberal arts college, be self-directed and motivated, work with integrity, and bring skills and abilities needed to advance Cougar men's soccer, the athletic program, and the University.
