About the Job



About the Job:
The researcher will complete computational tasks related to directional medical image processing and 3D bioprinting for cardiac applications. This will include applying mathematical analysis to data, interpreting computational outputs, developing algorithms to complete research goals, and thinking about the relationship between computational outputs and physical manufacturing processes.

Duties/responsibilities:
Work with project leads to understand desired outcomes (10%)
Write code to complete research aims, using experimental data to inform modifications (50%)
Prepare for and participate in lab/research meetings (15%)
Assist in the preparation of publications, patent applications, and grant proposals (15%)
Maintain a code repository (5%)
Other duties as assigned (5%)

Qualifications



Required qualifications:
BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, and one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience to equal five (5) years.
Experience with diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging (DTMRI)
Advanced knowledge of Python and C programming
Knowledge of G-code
Knowledge of Blender
Competency in 3D modeling software, including SolidWorks
Familiarity with the following Python libraries: numpy, scipy, pyserial, dipy, fury, pyqt/QML
Comfortable working with GitHub repositories and managing code databases
Skills in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and algorithm development
Experience working with and building 3D bioprinting systems
Research and analysis skills
Preferred qualifications include (these are just ideas):
2+ years experience working in a research lab
Expertise in cardiac anatomy and/or cardiac tissue engineering
Experience contributing to scientific publications
Experience working with intellectual property and patents
Good teamwork skills
Excellent attention to detail
Verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience presenting results in graphical form
Attention to detail
