Pay rates at Syracuse University are based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, the job responsibilities; the candidate’s education, training, work experience and key competencies; the university’s strategic priorities; internal peer equity; applicable federal, state, local laws, grant funding and contractual requisites; and external market analyses.

Hours may vary based on operational needs.

Develop personalized safe and effective exercise programs for patrons of various fitness levels. Conduct and assess health and fitness screenings. Provide safe and effective instruction in cardiovascular and weight training equipment. Conduct equipment orientations. Enforce facility and program policies.

Previous personal training experience, experience in developing comprehensive, customized exercise programs.

Previous personal training experience, experience in developing comprehensive, customized exercise programs, knowledge of anatomy and physiology, knowledge of strength & aerobic training, flexibility, exercise selection & training intensity and duration, good communication skills, national fitness certification (NSCA, ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NASM or equivalent), Adult CPR/AED or acquired w/in 30 days of hire.

Develop and implement individual workouts for clients, enforce facility and program policies.

Stand on feet for long hours, assist clients with lifting weights/spotting activities.
