Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)
? Assist with supervision of all phases of the football program--planning, strategy, instruction in fundamentals, and so forth.
? Responsible for care and issuance of all football equipment used by the team.
? Communicate with high school coaching staff(s) and attend meetings or mini clinics at high school(s) to ensure continuity in the DCSD
7-12 grade boy’s football program.
? Understand, monitor and enforce district academic standards, policies and eligibility requirements.
? Develop players to their fullest potential, starting with the basic fundamentals of the game of football and progressing to skills beyond what
is considered average.
? Understand and promote good sportsmanship among student-athletes.
? Complete required reports and record accurately and in a timely manner.
? Has a thorough knowledge of and responsible for the athletic policy approved by the Board of Education.
? Supervise players at all practices and games, as well as in the locker room and on the bus.
? Must possess an enthusiastic attitude and ability to understand intermediate-aged youth in an athletic setting.
? Adhere to Excellence in Athletics standards and expectations and operate as an integral part of the West High School football program.
? Work in cooperation with the building Activity Director and with the Director of Athletics for the Davenport Community Schools
? Other duties as assigned by administration.
? Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.
? Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to
ensure each child reaches his/her full potential
? Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
Physical Requirements of Position: (HBV ? Yes ? No)
? Able to demonstrate basketball positions and techniques to the players
? Able to stand for extended periods of time
? Must be able to lift/push/pull 50lbs.
Special Qualification Desired: (Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)
? Must possess a valid Iowa coaching endorsement
? Successful football coaching experience is preferred
? Must be available for evenings
? completion and submission of NFHS Online Concussion Course.
