This position plays a key role within the Digital Strategy Team,serving as the team lead for Explore Minnesota’s agency-wide suite of email marketing products, as well as a key contributor for social media, with a special focus on paid social. Associate Digital Strategist serves as a subject matter expert to the Digital Strategy Manager and other members of the EM staff and team. The incumbent oversees day-to-day operations of the EMN email marketing products under the general supervision of the Digital Strategy Manager, responsible for developing and carrying out email marketing, including recurring newsletters and targeted campaigns, to drive ROI and web traffic using a industry-standard email marketing platform. The Associate Digital Strategist works closely with the Senior Digital Strategist – Social to plan and execute paid and organic social strategy. This position is also responsible for production graphic design within an already-established brand and campaign framework and manages the EMN branded photo and video libraries.

Required to be in the St. Paul office every Wednesday.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide strategy, coordination, and design for Explore Minnesota’s suite of email marketing products.

  • Paid social media contributor for Explore Minnesota.

  • Graphic designer and asset manager for Explore Minnesota’s email and digital products and other agency products as needed.

  • Support the Digital Strategy team and other Agency leadership as assigned and needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of professional experience in a Communications, Marketing, Journalism, graphic design and multimedia production, creative writing, digital marketing, web design, or closely related field.

A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or Journalism may substitute for one (1) year of professional experience; OR a Master’s degree in the above fields may substitute for eighteen (18) months.

  • Demonstrated professional experience in email marketing, marketing automation, and/or social media management.

  • Proficiency in online tools, including mass email communication tools, photo storage solutions, and graphic design software.

  • Demonstrated professional experience in graphic design, especially within the context of an already-established brand framework.

  • Experience writing and editing for dissemination to broad audiences.

  • Knowledge of strategic communication and marketing principles.

  • Project management experience, including projects that are wide-ranging, cross-functional, and obtuse in nature.

  • Skill in online technology sufficient for creation and curation of social media content.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working as a part of a cross-functional team.

  • Knowledge of audience segmentation and list management and evaluating the success of email marketing campaigns in a competitive environment.

  • Knowledge of paid social media buying strategies and other forms of media buying.
