About the Job



Summary of Position:
This position is located at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, Twin Cities in the Department of Pharmaceutics.
The laboratory of Dr. Hongbo Pang in the Department of Pharmaceutics at the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy (UMN CoP) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate with training in the fields of immunology, disease modeling, nanotechnology or organic chemistry, to synergize with our strength in targeting peptides, targeted drug delivery, and peptide-guided therapeutic development.
The employee will work under the guidance of Assistant Professor Dr. Hongbo Pang in his research laboratory, based on the Minneapolis campus.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
100% Conduct research in the interface of material, cell biology and therapeutic development.
The identification of novel disease-seeking peptides, the development of peptide-assisted delivery system and therapeutics, and the exploration of its use in a variety of disease models.

Supervision:
Supervise pre-doctoral students, undergraduate and junior postdocs.
Working Conditions:
The work will be performed in a multi-disciplinary lab. The person in this position will be expected to interact with researchers from multiple backgrounds.
Restrictions: Limited to a period of five years. Limited to fields for which post-degree training is necessary for career entry.

Qualifications



Required Qualifications:
Degree and/or credentials: Ph. D., or equivalent terminal degree is required in a specific area of research.
Experience: None required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in related scientific field preferred: Bioengineering, Pharmaceutics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular and Cell biology, Bioinformatics.
Strong background in disease modeling, immunology, nanomaterial or organic chemistry are highly encouraged to apply.
Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and writing skills.

About the Department



The is housed in modern facilities within Weaver-Densford Hall of the Academic Health Center on the Minneapolis Campus.
It is well-equipped with a wide range of analytical instrumentation as well as processing equipment. There are also extensive animal facilities for carrying out biopharmaceutical and pharmacokinetic studies. Computer facilities are widely available within the Department, and those in the University Computer Center are also directly accessible.
Weaver-Densford Hall, which houses the College of Pharmacy and School of Nursing, is within a short walking distance of the University Hospital, the Biomedical Engineering Institute, the Institute of Technology (which includes the Department of Chemistry and various departments of engineering), and the two main University libraries, Biomedical (science) and Walter (engineering). Finally, much of the campus is connected by a convenient system of underground passages and skyways.

The Academic Health Center, which includes Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Public Health and Veterinary Medicine, is closely associated in its clinical functions with the teaching hospital at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, located in the heart of the Minneapolis Campus on the East Bank of the Mississippi River, near downtown Minneapolis.
