JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: As an Athletic Trainer in
Orthopaedic Surgery demonstrates advanced evaluation and treatment
skills and is involved in interdisciplinary collaboration, program
development, staff education, and patient education. Also demonstrates
emerging leadership skills and mentors department staff. Other duties as
assigned. Primary Functions Utilization of Assessment Skills for new
patient appointments, assist with ROM measurements for final evals,
perform focused Orthopaedic assessment of patients, Assist in education
of MD plan of care and review of Home Exercise Program, pre-surgical
exercises or care. Utilizes advanced clinical reasoning and skills in
the selection of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and Brace Application
and fit. Patient education of diagnosis, expectations, treatment plan,
surgery, post-op care, Facilitate outside referral if DME not
appropriate. Evaluates the patient/family response to interventions as
they relate to stated goals and expected outcomes and modifies as
needed. Documentation of care provided, and patient instructions given.
Successfully meets regulatory and compliance requirements for written
documentation as evidenced by scores on quarterly chart audits.
Consistently participates in team meetings, rounds, face to face
discussions, etc. regarding patient care and/or customer service needs.
Utilizes appropriate tools to effectively relay patient status to other
team members, leaders, appropriate medical personnel, and
patient/family. Collaboration with Team to assure the patient has
necessary education for plan of care. Provides information/education to
diverse patient/family populations addressing age-specific, cultural,
and/or socioeconomic factors. Assist with the fit and designation of the
DME. Identifies and facilitates the acquisition of appropriate
equipment, supplies, and services to meet patients\' needs, in
compliance with insurance requirements and/or department standards.
Demonstrates advanced understanding of complex patient equipment needs
and explores alternatives as needed. Appropriate Charging of DME.
Demonstrates and utilizes knowledge of program specific reimbursement
information as it relates to required authorizations and treatment plans
for all payers. Consistently enters clinical charges into the EMR on the
date treatment is provided. Assists clinical team to room patients and
assess status as per department procedures. Assist in injections and
other procedures as needed with the care team. Perform clinical services
