Summary

The Intern will be responsible for completing various tasks on the jobsite and will be expected to work safely, responsibly, and productively. These tasks will all be completed to gain insights into industry practices and trends.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Intern will possess competency in the following areas in order to perform his/her role in a safe, productive, and effective manner. Note that the areas listed are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by co-workers assigned to this role. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions associated with this job.

  • Collaborates with team members on specific projects or tasks

  • Carries-out assigned tasks and collaborates with team members and managers to resolve issues related to those tasks

  • Acquires practical experience to supplement academic coursework

  • Documents outcomes and resolutions to problems

  • Champions Incident and Injury Free (IIF) environment for project.

  • Sets example by following safety guidelines including but not limited to wearing PPE on jobs, staying aware of surroundings, etc.

  • Attends and participates in toolbox talks and provides input for safety task analysis

  • Complies with proper safety procedures

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at a college or university and possess prior work experience in any field

  • Proficiency in Basic Spanish is a plus

The following competencies are needed to successfully perform this job:

  • Willingness to ask questions of co-workers, foremen, etc. in order to learn, to avoid unsafe situations/conditions, and to be a team player

  • Ability to communicate with all co- workers

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical processes such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, percentages, and ratios

  • Ability to use Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work with co-workers at all levels in a team-oriented environment

  • Ability to deal with problems involving specific variables in standardized situations

  • Ability to comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and Haz-mat information

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished by written, oral or diagram form

  • Ability to exert heavy physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to navigate the job site
