THE OPPORTUNITY

This position can work out of our Abbott Park, IL location or St. Paul, MN location. It is a part of our PA Public Affairs division.   

As an Art Director at Abbott, you’ll be responsible for delivering brand-building, human-centered creative ideas, and bring them to life across a variety of mediums such as fully integrated campaigns, events, collateral, film and digital. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including creative strategists, writers, creative directors, designers and project managers to distill insights and creative strategies into compelling ideas that create an authentic and meaningful dialogue with our audiences.    

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with copywriters and other creatives to craft big ideas into compelling, customer-centric stories that deliver on Abbott’s purpose and promise
  • Bring ideas and creative concepts to life through mood boards, key visuals and storytelling
  • Participate in and lead effective brainstorming sessions
  • Provide art direction at photography and video shoots
  • Lead designers through the creative process to take work from concept to design to final execution
  • Effectively present big idea thinking, creative concepts and designs to internal clients. 
  • Develop creative that’s aligned with approved brand and messaging guidelines to ensure a consistent
    and cohesive expression of the Abbott brand  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of art direction or senior graphic design experience within an internal or external agency 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts or related field. 
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating an ability to develop breakthrough creative ideas that deliver on creative and brand strategies
  • Ability to work within a singular brand with a commitment to unleash its full creative potential
  • Experience presenting creative ideas to internal clients and teams 
  • At least two years of experience leading a team of designers from concept to completion 
  • Ability to gracefully handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office

The base pay for this position is $75,300.00 – $150,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
