Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for a UAS Systems Integration Engineer to support our Army Engineering Group in San Diego, CA. Under general supervision with limited review, this position supports the Integration group within Army Aircraft Systems/Project Engineering and is responsible for technical and project leadership with focus on leading and coordinating development/integration of system-level capabilities. Major areas include technical leadership of multiple engineering disciplines, lab evaluation of vendor and GA-ASI products, and coordinating with multiple departments for to accomplish system design, integration, and flight test.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the Army modernization roadmap and multiple modernization projects. Coordinate segments of a project and have frequent inter-organization contact on technical issues.
  • Troubleshoots, analyzes, and repairs systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principle
  • Coordinate and interface with customers on requirements, document findings, and communicate results to the corresponding engineering groups.
  • Support requirements development by coordinating and/or providing subject matter expert (SME) input.
  • Support System Integration Lab (SIL) and Flight Test for HW / SW integration. Develop engineering test plans, procedures, and reports for moderate size / complexity tasks.
  • Apply technical knowledge to support engineering staff in the analysis, investigation and resolution of engineering tasks of moderate scope / complexity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other Engineering disciplines, Program Management and subcontractors.
  • May represent the organization in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Possess understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
  • Ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Willing to work in a lab environment and test equipment.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or travel if required to complete the assigned tasks.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.

Salary:$81,080 - $141,650
