We are the Apple Field Design Engineering Connectivity group specializing on Connectivity technologies such as WiFi/BT, GPS, NFC and UWB. As part of our Wireless Systems Validation, you’ll be responsible validating system performance in lab and field environments with goal of providing a good customer experience! We are looking for highly motivated and passionate engineer to work on evaluating System performance for WiFi/BT technologies into Apple’s Wireless products. You’ll help improve the performance of our products through Innovation and collaboration across hardware and software groups. You will be responsible for validating the performance and functional aspects of Wireless on Apple products from a user experience perspective throughout their development lifecycle, from early prototypes to post-release phases. Your role will also involve ensuring that Wireless on Apple products remains at the forefront of technological advancements. You'll conduct in-depth analysis and proposing improvements to innovative technologies developed at Apple through focused experiments and real-world engineering analysis to improve overall end-user connectivity experiences. Key Responsibilities Include: - Developing and running Wi-Fi test plans with a primary focus on user experience to ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance. - Performing failure analysis to identify hardware or software issues through laboratory and field experiments. - Conducting in-depth Wi-Fi/BT analysis of hardware, software, and system issues, including protocol stack analysis (PHY, MAC, Network, and Application layers). - Generating comprehensive system performance test reports that include key performance indicators, highlighting critical issues, and providing a concise, data-driven summary for senior management review. - Applying your data-driven expertise and deep engineering knowledge to influence program decisions. - Collaborating with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Electronics / Engineering field
  • 3+ years of validation experience in WiFi technologies
  • Solid understanding of existing wireless communication protocols, such as 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be
  • Good understanding or WiFi/Bluetooth/Cellular CoExistence.
  • Strong understanding of OS Internals, TCP/IP and other layer 3 protocols.
  • In depth knowledge of analyzing over the Air data.
  • Experience with Matlab, Python and Shell scripting
  • Working knowledge of WiFi systems and hands-on experience with lab testing and characterization.
  • Knowledge using and understanding of lab equipment: signal analyzer, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, sniffer tools
  • Open to travel and perform field testing
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
