About the Job



Job Responsibilities:
We have an interest in utilizing computer algorithms as well as wet laboratory approaches to model gene behavior in tumors. This is purposed towards identifying cancer associated mechanisms, precision therapies or biomarkers.

The researcher will work with Dr. Justin Hwang and his current team to conduct informatics driven research. The individual will be assigned three or more research projects in which the individual will be responsible in progressing based on the following:
Responsibilities:
50% Design and perform bioinformatics and wet laboratory analysis for projects.
-Design overarching experimental plans based on literature mining.
-Work with wet lab personnel to learn and execute the experiments.
-Identify and trouble shoot issues to complete proposed analyses.
30% Interpret and organization of projects
-Document and organize source data, code, and results.
-Interpret results from analysis and articulate these findings to colleagues.
-Prepare figures for manuscripts and maintain expertise in the relevant research.
-Communicate and meet with Dr. Justin Hwang and his team.
10% Assist in preparing manuscripts, progress reports, abstracts.
10% Present data at lab meetings.

Qualifications



Required Qualifications:
BA/BS or an equivalent combination of education and experience to total 4 years
-Is willing to learn and develop long term projects by optimizing code for the analysis of biological features observed in cancer cells
-Has basic wet laboratory skills
-Will take exceptional records to ensure codes are reproducible by others
-Has previously worked with breast and prostate cancer models

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference with experience on human genomic or transcriptomic projects; has a degree in a health science or related field; has published on related projects
