Job Description:
Ameriprise Financial is offering an exciting opportunity in its sourcing organization. This opportunity plays a pivotal role in Ameriprise's transformation initiatives across the organization providing support and management of the technology strategic sourcing process. The position requires an experienced professional with a deep understanding of strategic sourcing, supplier management, and a track record of successfully working with cross-functional teams. Additionally, this position will support end-to-end completion of sourcing projects, and provide thought leadership and direction to business partners and the sourcing support team.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive and efficient strategic sourcing strategy aligned with organizational goals, ensuring cost reduction and risk mitigation.

Conduct analysis and negotiations for projects with the support and guidance from sourcing leadership.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing performance to ensure quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Collect technology requirements from business partners.

Manage, develop and maintain key business partner and technology project owner relationships.

Provide project-based and/or direct oversight of a small team of resources.

Provide sourcing thought leadership, workload management, and day-to-day oversight of project and resource activities.

Work with key technology leadership and the General Counsel's Organization to incorporate results of negotiations into contractual documents.

Work with the General Counsel's Organization to ensure consistent terms across all agreements resulting in improved cycle time while reducing reliance on General Counsel resources.

Identify and realize cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities.

Provide supporting analytics to finance team to validate realized savings.

Train and promote group sourcing within the organization, research new trends or advances in product lines to make appropriate buying decisions.

Continue developing a strong understanding of a specific Ameriprise business function and related vendor set/industry.

Lead quarterly category sourcing update meetings with key stakeholders.

Provide broad industry knowledge on the buy-side, but also the internal knowledge and "language of the business".

Ability to "sell" sourcing's value and to run sourcing as a services business like any other well-run professional services business.

Analytical mindset, but also creativity to seek, encourage and find non-traditional approaches that have historically "boxed-in" sourcing.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent (4-year degree)

5+ years of general technology, technology sales or technology sourcing experience.

Strong problem solving and analytic skills.

Strong negotiation, technical, communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent communication skills and listening skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.


Preferred Qualifications

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint, Project) Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting in terms of budgeting, cost management, financial accounting, risk management, etc.

Ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment and manage multiple priorities.

In-depth knowledge of sourcing and sourcing principles and best practices.
