JOB INFORMATION Transportation Worker is a permanent, full-time position with the Department of Transportation.  Positions are located throughout the state.  Employees perform a variety of routine tasks ranging from simple unskilled manual work to the operation of various pieces of simple mechanized equipment.  Vacancies are filled by direct appointment.  No examination is required. No employment register is maintained. Applicants meeting the qualifications below may apply directly to the Alabama Department of Transportation Region or District Office for which they wish to work or to the State Personnel Department to be placed on the direct appointment list for Transportation Worker. MINIMUM REQUIREMENT(S) • Completion of eighth grade. EXAMINATION • No examination is required.
