2025 - 2026 KP Internship
Internship Timeline:
This internship is scheduled to start as soon as possible and last for 12 months.
Location:
This internship role is scheduled to be flexible. Please be prepared to spend part of your time working remotely and part of your time working at the following address: 1730 Minor Ave, Suite 1300, Seattle, WA 98101.
Department Description:
Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute (KPWHRI) is the non-proprietary, public-interest research center within Kaiser Permanente Washington, a nonprofit health system based in Seattle. Our research produces timely, relevant findings that help people everywhere stay healthy and get the care they need. From testing new vaccines to helping people quit smoking to finding ways to delay or prevent Alzheimer’s disease, our discoveries have helped millions of people worldwide lead healthier, happier lives.
Intern Project(s):
This study is looking to test a culturally adapted physical activity promotion program for older Latino/a and Hispanic adults, to improve brain health. S/he will need to be fully bilingual in Spanish/English and will do phone-based health coaching around physical activity with older adults, predominantly Spanish-speaking. Each participant assigned to the health coach receives 6 phone-based coaching calls over a 12-week period. Intern will be trained in health behavior coaching by the Principal Investigator.

Over the course of a structured internship program, may perform research duties and contribute to a small project or elements of a larger project. Meet quality standards and produce deliverables for management-related projects that are directly relevant to the work of the organization. May be responsible for coordinating activities of a project team, identifying appropriate resources needed and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of a project. Communicate with Senior Management or Functional Area Manager regarding results of assigned tasks.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Participate in and/or specifically manage elements of an assigned smaller project in support of organizational goals. This work may include project planning, developing goals & objectives, research, creating a work plan & decision criteria, project management, team facilitation and financial & market feasibility analysis.
- Through study and research on internship field, may identify & provide input on process changes and improvements to enhance performance across projects.
- Ensures all project requirements and/or objectives are properly documented.
- May develop reports & recommendations and communicates plans via written & oral presentations to project sponsors and stakeholder groups.
- May function as interface/liaison across organizational structures to facilitate coordinated strategies.

- Currently enrolled or has completed a masters or graduate level program in health, business administration, or law (juris doctorate).
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

- Computer skills in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to take initiative in creating comprehensive leadership development plan.
- Ability to handle high stress, multiple tasks, complex issues, conflicting demands and confidential information.
- Familiarity with the health care or health insurance industry.
