POSITION PURPOSE
This position provides professional legal support in all areas of real estate, construction, property management, and store operations. The Legal Specialist will support real estate transactions from initial negotiation through closing. Frequent coordination and collaboration with outside counsel on multiple matters will be required. The Legal Specialist will also provide ongoing support to store operations leadership on regulatory and other matters. As needed, the Legal Specialist may also provide support in connection with the management of special projects and other department or company initiatives.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Handle day-to-day administration of all real estate, construction, property management, and store operations matters within area of responsibility
- Draft, analyze, interpret and negotiate a variety of agreements including letters of intent, NDAs, license agreements, easements, access agreements, leases, consents, waivers, purchase and sale agreements, REAs, estoppels and SNDAs
- Coordinate with outside counsel and business partners
- Manage regulatory matters from intake through resolution
- Answer calls from store, district, and regional management and dispense legal advice commensurate with experience (i.e., on matters not requiring input from a corporate counsel)
- Identify potential legal, business, and operational issues, and work with internal business clients to develop a strategy for resolution
- Conduct legal research and summarize contract provisions, laws, cases and other regulations as requested
- Management of special projects or other department or company initiatives

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

- 7+ years of commercial real estate and/or store operations experience
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program
- Experience with lease abstraction
- Customer service experience

Hybrid – An associate in a hybrid role blends in-office and remote/virtual working to complete their job duties. An associate may be required to work from a designated Home Depot location on some days, and may work from a virtual/remote location on others. We also refer to this as location – flex.
