Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
- 2 years of experience with software development in C++, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
- Ability to communicate in English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
- 2 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, and/or debugging.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
- Experience in building products using Machine Learning techniques including Natural Language Processing (NLP).
- Experience with information retrieval, machine learning/artificial intelligence, distributed computing, and large-scale system design.

The Search Developer Platform (SDP) is part of the larger Search organization. Our mission is to accelerate the efficient development of compelling and innovative Search experiences. The focus of your work as a Software Engineer in SDP will be to make Google Search faster, better and more relatable, and to do so in a scalable fashion that will allow many parts of the Google Search experience to benefit from your work. You will work on projects critical to the needs of Google's users, with a focus on quality, performance, and how to integrate the latest advances in AI/LLMs into Google's Search infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, reusable information retrieval solutions, finding a good balance between quality and cost.
- Analyze your solutions, with a scientific, data-driven mindset, and always keep in mind what is best for Google's users.
- Use modern machine learning solutions (e.g., embedding retrieval) to evolve Google's search infrastructure.
- Work in a high-paced environment with cross-team collaborations, open-ended challenges, and a rapidly evolving technology.
