Required Skills:
Minimum Requirements for Civil Engineer I: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in civil engineering; three (3) years responsible experience in the practice of civil engineering or related field; possession of registration as a Professional Engineer (Civil preferred) in the State of Minnesota; SWPPP Design certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire; and valid Minnesota issued driver’s license.

May be hired as a Civil Engineer II with five (5) years progressively responsible experience in the practice of civil engineering or related field and experience as a project manager on public infrastructure projects.

As a Civil Engineer you will be involved with:
• Prepares engineering feasibility reports and cost estimates;
• Prepares preliminary and final plans for a variety of street, sewer, watermain, drainage projects or other public infrastructure related projects;
• Conduct site evaluations to ensure compliance with plans and specifications and local, state and federal regulations;
• Assists with the preparation of funding and grant application requests;
• Collaborates with various departments to execute projects on time and within budget;
• Supervises technicians, surveyors, inspectors and part-timers in the performance of project related activities;
• Supervises the gathering and verification of data used in computing contract payments.
