Copeland Human Resources Director in Sidney, Ohio

Copeland is looking for an innovative experienced Human Resources Director who desires to make a positive impact on people and organizational success! As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will collaborate with employees, business unit leadership, and shared service HR functions to cultivate a purpose-driven and inclusive employee experience where people thrive. You will partner with the HR Vice President to align business needs and HR strategic priorities to ensure excellent execution in attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining employees.

This role will support C-suite functional executives and their global teams and will work across multiple geographies and business units. Client groups will range from 250 to 400 employees.

As a Human Resources Director, You Will:

  • Function as a vital resource and trusted advisor for assigned business/functional groups through the building of positive and meaningful relationships.

  • Provide support to executive leaders, managers, and employees to improve employee engagement and drive results in our People Strategy

  • Support and facilitate talent management processes and organizational development activities, including organizational and talent vitality, ensuring full utilization of development plans, cross-referencing internal and external training, and development opportunities.

  • Collaborate with and advise hiring managers on talent needs and collaborating with the Talent Acquisition team to utilize standard processes and systems.

  • Coach and counsel employees and people leaders in the interpretation and application of HR and organizational policies and procedures, providing consistency and fairness.

  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance (coaching, counseling, career development, corrective action) to employees of all levels of the organization.

  • Participate in employee on-boarding and exit processes, ensuring a consistent and positive employee experience.

  • Conduct effective, detailed, and objective investigations of employee relations concerns and/or ethics issues.

  • Work with leadership to develop, implement, and execute employee learning plans to ensure Copeland required training and other established expectations are met.

  • Provide metrics to your client leaders and the HRLT to enable analysis and plans to achieve results and drive positive employee engagement.

  • Support a client group of functional leaders and their employees in multiple locations and Shared Service Centers, some with matrixed leaders, through all HR processes.

  • Travel to and participate in recruiting events, client strategy sessions and meetings (up to 10%)

Flexible Work Schedule – Remote Work Option and Core Hours:

This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to two days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.

Required Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

  • 10 years of overall HR experience with 5 years leading an HR team

  • Experience building a high-performance team

  • Required knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance requirements

  • Experience with partnering with business leaders and implementing HR processes, including salary planning, discipline, policy administration, ethics investigations and employee engagement initiatives.

  • Utilization of successional planning, talent review and L&D process

  • Experience with organizational change

  • Proven positive customer service and employee relations skills to facilitate daily interaction with internal customers.

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively connect with senior leaders, internal customers, and the community.

  • Outstanding organizational skills and a can-do demeanor that shows persistence despite obstacles and setbacks.

  • Ability to produce quality results in a highly matrixed, fast-paced environment.

  • Maintains composure and efficiency in stressful situations.

  • Willingness to tackle additional projects to support the overall HR strategy

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and HR information system

  • Legal Authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Fifteen (15) plus years of experience in Human Resources with 7 or more years leading an HR team.

  • Master’s degree

  • Experience with changing or implementing HRIS systems.

  • Leading HR & Client groups through changes in company ownership or IPO

  • Open to relocation in the future for career growth and development

  • HRCI or SHRM certification

  • Demonstrated facilitation and training skills.

  • Experience in an industrial / manufacturing multi-location, global company

Our newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for our HVACR Americas business unit. Through our many years of compressor expertise, our products help bring comfort and convenience to refrigeration, commercial, industrial, and residential spaces. Approximately 1600 employees work in Sidney, who all support a multitude of business functions.
