Required Skills:
1.    Education/Special Skills: A Bachelor of Science degree including an internship under the direction of a Pathologist in an approved laboratory. Must possess or be eligible to receive appropriate HHS approved laboratory certification (i.e., ASCP or AMT). Must maintain approved certification status.  
2.    Minimum of two years’ of lab experience. 
3.    Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Computer knowledge required. Ability to follow detailed blood collection and lab procedures and develop new procedures as needed by the Laboratory Medical Director.
4.    Successful completion of the pre-employment health screening process required.
5.    Mental Demands: Requires ability to perform at an independent level with minimal direction; exercise good judgement and initiative; problem solve; make decisions in a variety of situations; and resolve minor conflicts.
6.    Must be able to attend work site per schedule. Duties may require limited amount of non-scheduled overtime hours as workload requires. Duties may require change of shift to accommodate workload and/or labor supply shortage.

Job Description:
The Lab Supervisor provides direct supervision and education to laboratory staff, including MLS, MLT, Phlebotomists and interns. He/she must have the versatility to perform procedures in all sections of the laboratory when working weekends, alone, or as workload requirements demand. The Lab Supervisor will be assigned special projects in addition to supervisory duties and will assume responsibility of a section of the lab, or the entire lab when the Lab Manager and Lab Director are absent. 
This position requires a highly trained, specialized individual who has the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations. The Lab Supervisor works closely with patients, the Pathologist, office staff, physicians, nursing service, and other LRH campus personnel. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The incumbent has access to sensitive, confidential information and must be able to maintain those confidences. The incumbent establishes the work procedures and priorities within imposed deadlines.
