About the Job



Job Duties/Responsibilities
50% - The primary responsibility of this position will be to design, lead, and conduct experiments based on research studies of the lab which include the areas of: cellular and molecular mechanisms of spinal neuroplasticity, sex hormone biology, spinal cord injury, ageing, and respiratory physiology.

10% - Research and analyze relevant research literature related to on-going research studies. Make recommendations to the PI and lab members on how literature findings inform current or potential future research studies.

10% - Analyze and interpret data compiled from research experiments. Recommend appropriate analytical outcomes to the PI and other lab members and inform how results impact hypotheses or research objectives.

10% - Write manuscripts and give presentations related to research studies.

10% - Research potential grant opportunities and create grant proposals/applications as appropriate for career development.

10% - Provide direction and supervision to others in the lab by instructing on techniques/processes/procedures.

Qualifications



Required Qualifications:
* PhD; Physiology, Neuroscience, or similar
* Experience working with rodent models
* First author of peer-reviewed publications on neuroplasticity, hormone signaling, spinal cord injury and/or respiratory motor control

Previous experience with:
* Presenting research at conferences (poster or platform presentations)
* Graduate teaching assistance to demonstrate educational leadership and teamwork
* Lab skill including: in-vivo neurophysiology, behavioral testing, rodent surgery, immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, Western Blotting, qRT-PCR, ELISA, mass spectrometry, RNAseq, flow cytometry
