GEMS is looking for an Elementary Teacher (K-5) for the 24-25 school year.  We are an EL Education K-8 charter school in Columbus, Ohio located by The Ohio State University’s campus. Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package.

K-5 Classroom Teacher

The classroom teacher is responsible for the education of each student in his or her class and is responsible for working with students, parents, and other teachers and staff towards achieving the mission and goals of Graham Elementary and Middle School. 

The classroom teacher will:

  • Plan challenging and engaging lessons based on the Ohio and Common Core State Standards
  • Set high academic achievement expectations
  • Differentiate instruction to support all students in the learning process
  • Incorporate literacy across all content areas
  • Provide opportunities for student engagement through “Voice and Choice”
  • Plan, support and collaborate with fellow educators and staff
  • Plan and implement interdisciplinary projects (Expeditions) on grade level teams
  • Work closely with inclusion specialists to support the needs of students with individual education plans
  • Co-plan and co-teach with inclusion specialists
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student work and use data to guide instruction
  • Build culture and character through a small group advisory (Crew)
  • Identify and supports students’ social, emotional, and behavior learning needs
  • Communicate proactively and professionally
  • Set goals and participate in professional development to advance practice
  • Implement school-wide norms and positive behavioral interventions and supports in class

Teachers in grades K-4 (excluding specials teachers) teach multiple subjects to one class of approximately 25 students. Classes in grades 5-8 are departmentalized by content area. 

All classroom teachers are required to have a Bachelor’s degree (at minimum) and a valid Ohio teaching license. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Ohio Educator License related to instructional area
  • Pass BCI and FBI background check
  • Pass Educator Licensure conduct review
