General Statement of Duties

A. GATE MONITOR (18 yrs. and Older) $15.00 Hourly

This position may require working a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends.  Must be able to work other than normal hours and be available to work as scheduled based upon the needs of the department.   May be required to work in outdoor elements such as sun, heat, and rain.   Responsible for customer service, and revenue collection process. Assist with the promotion of pool programs. Conducts business with patrons in a fair and impartial manner.

Greets customers and answers inquiries while regulating the flow of patrons in and out of facility. Enforces Department of Recreation rules pertaining to admittance and attire at the gate. Sells and tracks membership cards. Tracks daily attendance on the sign in/out sheets. Collects, receipts and deposits all revenue in accordance with Department of Recreation regulations and guidelines.  Prepares daily deposits with pool manager and transports deposit to the bank. Provides updated and accurate information related to recreation programs and events.  Follows proper telephone etiquette while assisting customers.  Assists in emergencies according to the facility emergency action plan

Must have, or able to obtain, current American Red Cross Adult and Child CPR and First Aid certifications. Must be organized and able to keep legible records. May be responsible for revenue collection process. Must be willing to take direction from pool manager and pool supervisors. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must follow Department of Recreation rules, regulations and guidelines, especially those relating to safety, customer service and finance. Attend gate monitor training, preseason training, and on-site pool training. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must wear Department of Recreation staff wear.

B.  SLIDE ATTENDANT (16 yrs. and Older) $13.00 Hourly

This position may require working a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends.  Must be able to work other than normal hours and be available to work as scheduled based upon the needs of the department.  May be required to work in outdoor elements such as sun, heat and rain.   Conducts business with patrons in a fair and impartial manner

Enforces Department of Recreation rules pertaining to admittance to slides and regulates the flow of patrons using slides and play structures. Cleans restrooms and picks up pool deck/ area as required to maintain a healthy and sanitary environment.  Responds to emergency clean-up situations. Follows proper telephone etiquette while assisting customers.  Assists in emergencies according to the facility emergency action plan

Must have, or able to obtain, current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/ AED and First Aid certifications. Must be able to work with close supervision and be willing to take direction from pool manager and pool supervisors. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must follow Department of Recreation rules, regulations, and guidelines, especially those relating to safety, customer service. Attend preseason training, and on-site pool training. Must be 16 years of age or older. Must wear Department of Recreation staff wear and maintain a clean and positive demeanor and appearance.

C.  SPRAY GROUND ATTENDANT (18 yrs. and Older) $15.00 Hourly

This position may require working a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends.  Must be able to work other than normal hours and be available to work as scheduled based upon the needs of the department.   May be required to work in outdoor elements such as sun, heat, and rain.   Responsible for customer service and cleanliness of assigned area.  Cleans restrooms (if applicable) and picks up area as required to maintain a healthy and sanitary environment. Responds to emergency clean-up situations. Conducts business with patrons in a fair and impartial manner.

Must be able to oversee the area and regulate patrons' use of spray ground facilities and play structures.  Enforces Department of Recreation rules pertaining to admittance.  Must be able to operate a pool filtration system.  Must be able to test and accurately record water chemistry and adjust as needed.  Implements emergency action plans in necessary. Must be able to work with minimum supervision

Must have, or able to obtain, current American Red Cross Adult and Child CPR and First Aid certifications.  Must be organized and able to keep legible records.   Must be willing to take direction from pool supervisors. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must follow Department of Recreation rules, regulations and guidelines, especially those relating to safety, customer service. Attend preseason training, and on-site spray ground training. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have valid Ohio Driver License, CRC van driver training and be eligible to drive a city vehicle or provide own vehicle transportation. Must wear Department of Recreation staff wear and maintain a clean and positive demeanor and appearance.

D.  CONCESSIONS WORKER (18 yrs. and Older) $13.00 Hourly

 This position may require working a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends.  Must be able to work other than normal hours and be available to work as scheduled based upon the needs of the department.  May be required to work in outdoor elements such as sun, heat and rain. Responsible for customer service. Conducts business with patrons in a fair and impartial manner.

Greets customers and assists with food delivery as directed by manager.  Helps with organizing and inventorying supplies, food preparation and cleaning as directed by manager. Collects, receipts, and deposits all revenue in accordance with Department of Recreation regulations and guidelines.  Follows proper telephone etiquette while assisting customers.  Assists in emergencies according to the facility emergency action plan.

Must have, or able to obtain, current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/ AED and First Aid certifications. Must be able to work with close supervision and be willing to take direction from pool/concession manager and pool supervisors. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must follow Department of Recreation rules, regulations and guidelines, especially those relating to food handling, safety and customer service. Attend preseason training, and on-site pool training. Health Insurance

The City of Cincinnati 80/20 offers 3 medical plans to all full time City of Cincinnati employees and eligible dependents: the 80/20 PPO medical plan, the HDHP medical plan with an HSA contribution, and a Health Reimbursement Arrangement for those enrolled on another non-city eligible group plan.

Eligible dependents include:

Basic Life Insurance

A $50,000 Basic Life Insurance policy is paid for by the City for certain eligible employees. Full time employees not eligible for the City-paid basic life insurance policy are generally provided a similar benefit through their union group.
 

Supplemental Life, Long Term Disability, Accident & Critical Illness Insurance

Most full time City employees are eligible to participate in a supplemental life insurance program, a long term disability plan, and accident and critical illness insurance programs at their own expense.  Premiums are determined by age, amount of coverage, and various additional factors.
 
Flexible Benefits Plans

Healthcare Flex Spending Account

City employees can participate in the Healthcare Flex Spending Account that can be used to pay out-of-pocket medical, prescription, dental, and vision care expenses for employees and family members.  

Dependent Care Flex Spending Account

City employees can participate in a Dependent Care Flex Spending Account that can be used to pay work-related dependent care expenses.  Participants can set aside money each year through pre-tax payroll deductions to pay for these expenses.

Transportation Expense Reimbursement Account

City employees can participate in a Transportation Expense Reimbursement Account (TERA) that can be used to reimburse expenses related to traveling to and from work.  Participants can set-up a pre-tax payroll deduction up to an IRS regulated amount.

Healthy Lifestyles Program

City employees can voluntarily participate in a wellness incentive program that encourages and rewards employees and their spouses/equal partners for making positive choices for better health.  The City of Cincinnati will contribute up to $300/year to a Health Reimbursement Account for each the employee and their spouse/equal partner for meeting specified program goals.  These dollars can be used to offset qualified out-of-pocket medical expenses.

Integrated Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)

This is a voluntary program that serves as an alternative healthcare option to traditional medical plans. If you have alternate group health coverage available to you through a spouse, equal partner, another job, or a non-city retirement plan, you may be eligible for this plan which reimburses you for the difference in premiums between the plans and your covered out of pocket expenses on the other plan.

 
Retirement Plan

The City provides a defined benefit pension plan for part-time and full-time employees.  New hires and re-hired employees are required to participate in the City of Cincinnati's Retirement System (CRS), regardless of previous participation in an  Ohio State pension system or any another state or federal pension system.  CRS is funded by employer and employee contributions, and investment returns from plan assets.  CRS provides retirement and health care benefits subject to eligibility requirements.  The following groups are excluded from participation in CRS: Mayor and Members of City Council; Sworn Police & Fire; Police Recruits; and Rehired Ohio Police & Fire Retirees.

 

Deferred Compensation

As an Ohio government employer, the City offers employees the ability to participate in a 457(b) tax-deferred retirement savings plan.  The City makes an annual match to your 457(b) of up to $750, or as otherwise specified in applicable regulations and union contracts.
