Duties Description Duration: May/June – September 2025 (Summer)
Hours: 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday

Overview
The Capital Bureau within NYS Parks manages the design and construction of park facilities and infrastructure. The Long Island District is looking for a summer intern to assist with design and construction management activities for a variety of climate resilience, renewable energy, and green infrastructure projects.

Job Duties
-All capital improvement projects integrate climate resilience and green design elements. Intern(s) will work with NYS Parks staff including engineers, architects, and landscape architects to support the development of energy efficient, environmentally sensitive, and sustainable projects.
-Collect, evaluate, and record field information for various projects.
-Assist technical staff with information collection and surveys.
-Work with limited direction and supervision.
-Use computer software commonly used in design and construction (AutoCAD preferred)
-Work with team to develop successful project scope and design, or in support of
projects.
-Prepare graphics including plans, details, presentation drawings, and written documents for reports and projects.
-Support the development of guidance documents and training materials for staff.

Minimum Qualifications Qualifications
-Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in engineering,
architecture, or landscape architecture.
-Must have a valid driver’s license to visit Parks and Historic Sites located in the Long
Island area.
