The Office of Computing and Information Services (CIS) at the City University of New York (CUNY) supports the IT and telecommunications needs of CUNY's 25 colleges. CIS supports enterprise IT and applications and identifies and develops new technologies that advance the University's core mission. CIS operates and maintains the University's network, the enterprise Data Center, the CUNY Service Desk, manages the processes of safeguarding the University’s IT assets and maintaining the security posture by operating the CUNY Security Operations Center (SOC). Additionally, CIS develops disaster recovery plans for business continuity, supports the CUNYfirst Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution that integrates student administration, financial management, and human resources operations across CUNY’s 25 colleges, and provides strategic and operational IT leadership to all CUNY campuses.
Reporting to the Senior DegreeWorks Administrator, the DegreeWorks Administrator will support and maintain the DegreeWorks systems to ensure data integrity and security, provide user support to campus coordinators to effectively utilize the system, perform system upgrades and enhancements to maintain and improve functionality, and collaborate with vendors to ensure support solutions meet the needs and objectives of the University’s student advisement solution, Ellucian’s DegreeWorks. Ensuring system support involves a collaborative effort among various staff members, including those handling web development, network, and system services, system server administration (such as Microsoft Services, Linux, Citrix, Juniper, and Oracle), legacy system development, quality assurance and performance testing, and coordination with related staff across the University when necessary.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide technical support for DegreeWorks and related systems, including University Enterprise deployment applications, commercial and in-house developed CUNY applications; ensure smooth operation and support a range of web-based functionalities for students, faculty, and staff.
- Implement and track changes to applications and their underlying infrastructure in alignment with CIS’s change management procedures.
- Support generation and maintenance of both new and existing student data reports, ensure accuracy and timely availability for stakeholders.
- Serve as point of contact with vendors to facilitate system enhancements and ensure seamless integration with existing systems and products; collaborate with the Application Support team, provide essential technical assistance, address challenges, set priorities, and offer support to help achieve team objectives.
- Coordinate closely with database administrators, application developers, and subject matter experts to specify, implement, and support planned changes and enhancements to University Enterprise application environment and related components within Central Information Services support structure.
- Partner with testing and quality assurance staff to participate in planning and executing migrations from testing to production environments, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Collaborate with the Project Management Office by contributing to the development and monitoring of project plans, budgets, status reports, scope documents, and other project- related documentation.
- Contribute to identifying and implementing additional technologies to support administrative and faculty needs related to initiatives.
- Perform special ad hoc requests, projects, and initiatives as needed, and undertake other related duties consistent with scope and intent of the position.

- An appointment to this Competitive title/position in the Classified Civil Service Title Series will be made with a Provisional status. Employees in provisional status must pass a competitive civil service examination and be appointed from a civil service list to remain in the title/position.
