The Team Members We’re Looking For
At Dole our employees are the cornerstone of our success, and we are looking for dynamic individuals to join our team. We have an excellent opportunity for multiple Maintenance Technicians ranging in skill sets from apprentices to master mechanics, at our Dole Fresh Vegetables manufacturing facility in Springfield, Ohio.
In these positions you would be responsible for repairing and maintaining processing and packaging equipment used within the facility. You would also inspect equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications. You may support repairs and installations for other advanced production/manufacturing equipment. You will diagnose equipment malfunctions and makes repairs or adjustments as needed.
Our work environment is unique. This position requires continuous work near cold, noise, and chemicals. The work in this position requires frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending and kneeling. The position may require weekend and/or holiday work.
As a Maintenance Technician, these are some of the things you’d do during the course of the day:
- Repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment
- Perform Preventative Maintenance Work
- Perform breakdown analysis
- Oversee or perform general housekeeping
- Upgrade production lines with new/upgraded equipment/technology
- Direct activities of outside contractors working on assigned line
- Change line for package changeovers
- Enforce GMP, safety, food safety, and audit standards
- Work independently under limited supervision (self-management)
- Documentation of work schedule and work tasks completed
- Build and install various types of equipment and fixtures
- Assist on any other project or job assigned by Maintenance Supervisors.
- Willing to work weekends and overtime as necessary
- Conduct yourself in a "team spirit of cooperation" throughout the company
What You’ll Need to Start
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience in a food processing environment helpful but not required - we will train
What Will Help You Do Well in this Role
- 1-5 years' experience as a maintenance mechanic/technician or a strong mechanical aptitude.
- Understanding of the hazards of ammonia and chlorine refrigeration systems.
- Knowledge of basic concepts, practices, and procedures in food manufacturing preferred.
- Electrical safety training.
- Basic working knowledge of electrical components used in processing and packaging systems like transformers, motors, motor controls, instruments, electrical protection devices.
- Ability to furnish and use hand tools normally expected of Electrician/Mechanical technicians.
- Ability to obtain working understanding of a CMMS system and document work completed, assign time and parts to proper WO.
- Good working knowledge of conveyor systems, packaging machinery, pumps, gear reduction boxes, dicers, and other processing machinery.
- Working knowledge of GMP’s within a food manufacturing facility.
- Basic computer navigation or HMI, CMMS, access procedure folder on network, and E-mail proficiency.
- Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret equipment schematics, drawings, manufacturer’s literature, and technical procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors and managers.
