Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Faculty / Concentration Coordinator - Cardiovascular Echo Sonography. The Faculty / Concentration Coordinator - Cardiovascular Echo Sonography is located in the  Nursing and Allied Health. This is a full-time position for internal applicants only.  

REPORTS TO:   Dean of Nursing and Allied Health

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Certifications/Licenses Required:  Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)

Required Experience:  

  • Minimum two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
  • Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Advanced:

  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization
  • Interpersonal skills to handle any student concerns
Proficient:
  • Organizational Skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Job Concepts

The DCS/VT Concentration Coordinator reports to the Program Director and is responsible for the coordination of the Cardiovascular Echo Sonography concentration. Faculty position is responsible for providing instruction, evaluation of students, documentation of progress and periodic review of course content in the classroom, lab and clinical setting and all other duties and responsibilities listed as a full-time faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities

40%  Instructional Responsibilities:

  • Engage in didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction as needed.
  • Offer direction and guidance to students and clinical instructors to optimize the learning experience.
  • Carry out all duties and responsibilities listed as a full-time faculty.
  • Develop and implement remediation plans

20%  Coordinate Clinical Education:

  • Manage and organize clinical education activities.
  • Oversee the scheduling and assignment of students to clinical sites.
  • Provide administration and supervision for all student clinical experiences.
  • Ensure continuous quality review and improvement of student clinical experiences.

20%  Evaluate and Document Student Performance:

  • Ensure the documentation of student evaluations and track progression toward competence.
  • Develop and implement processes for evaluating student performance.

5%  Curriculum Assessment and Development:

  • Provide academic oversight for the concentration components of the program.
  • Participate in curriculum planning and development for the clinical education component

5%  Service:

  • Contribute to the college and your discipline by collaborating with others and offering your service to the college and your discipline

5%  Professional Development:

  • Engage in continual professional development activities as it relates to pedagogy, assessment, and faculty area of expertise in order to maintain and upgrade professional, instructional, and administrative capabilities
