SMX is seeking a Senior Cloud Solutions Architect for applications, infrastructure, data, and IoT solutions to drive high priority USINDOPACOM initiatives. This position will support a new USINDOPACOM sponsored AI/ML enabled plans capability (STORMBREAKER) that will be deployed in a new USINDOPACOM cloud environment.

This is a customer facing role, providing overall technical support for deploying DoD mission applications in a cloud environment. You will support technical USINDOPACOM requirements including architectural design sessions, implementation, platform core enablement and workload onboarding. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading deep technical architecture discussions with DoD customers, Enterprise Architects, IT & IA Managers and Developers.  This position must also be well versed in policies, military organization and capabilities, engagements, and opportunities with SEA countries.

You would be a great candidate for this position if you have strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively; can manage multiple tasks simultaneously; and make decisions in the midst of ambiguity to meet deadlines. The successful candidate must be a self-starter that needs minimal supervision.

This position requires a DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI which requires US citizenship for work on a DoD contract.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work effectively within a delivery-centric professional services organization
  • Navigate client-facing challenges and work in tandem with other vendors
  • Support execution activities across the full project lifecycle, from planning, through implementation, to operational readiness
  • Lead technical discussions both internally and with customer teams
  • Understand cloud-native services and optimize the customer landscape through these services where appropriate
  • Design and implement the required security settings for deployment of the application and support the RMF/ATO process for accreditation on DoD systems
  • Define and engineer solution capabilities that satisfy a customer's goals and meet service delivery objectives
  • Install and configure specific product components per solution requirements
  • Produce high-quality, well-written technical documentation, including design plans, implementation diagrams, data flow mappings, and as-built documents
  • Take ownership of solutions, assignments, actions items and issues, and remain accountable for their completion
  • Work effectively with other team members, customers and key stakeholders and foster team success
  • Provide transparent and regular status updates in requested format
  • Achieve and maintain AWS or other cloud certification levels at least annually
  • Work cooperatively with the government lead in developing short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures in accordance with program objectives
  • Have a high attention to detail, working closely with plans, operations and technical stakeholders to drive measurable results

Required Skills & Experience

  • Required clearance: Must have a SECRET clearance to start with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI Eligibility
  • Demonstrated success in government project and/or personnel management (DoD preferred) through prior work experience in a customer-facing role
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, additional 4 years of experience may substitute in lieu of the degree requirement
  • 5+ years of experience in a role that encompasses both data center infrastructure and systems engineering
  • Extensive experience with Windows and UNIX/Linux system administration - administration within virtualized environments is preferred
  • Extensive experience with networking, and storage components (eg Operating systems / virtual machines, TCP-IP / DNS, Block / File / Object storage, etc)
  • Extensive experience with IaC/CloudFormation and familiarity with continuous integration services and support tools – eg: CodePipeline, CodeBuild
  • Knowledge of and experience with AWS Services; EC2, VPC, ELB, AWS Security, S3, RDS, EBS, ECS
  • Knowledge of and experience with the DoD RMF process
  • Knowledge of and experience with monitoring, metrics collection, and reporting tools
  • Experience with large enterprise applications
  • Basic knowledge of database management systems
  • Familiarity with continuous integration services and supporting tools- eg: CodePipeline, Jenkins
  • Proven ability to document, promote and present your work to other teams and to customers
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate across internal practices and with other team members
  • Ability to work within an organized and structured delivery-centric team
