About the Job

Summary of Position:
The Digital Health Project Manager (DHPM) will support the Center for Learning Health System Sciences (CLHSS) primarily in the creation and implementation of new digital health products and the iteration and improvement of existing digital health products with a keen focus on the end-user and regulatory requirements. Product types vary and may include consumer facing apps, EHR integrated apps, clinical decision making tools, data access platforms for researchers, and more. Requests for DHPM support can come from external service requests, or the request can be a part of a grant CLHSS has received. Depending on the source, the DHPM may oversee the entire lifecycle of the assigned product or only a portion of the life cycle (i.e. capability augmentation). Each assigned product will have a unique set of requirements (e.g. human subjects research practices, FDA compliance, health system requirements, etc.) that need to be understood and steadfastly followed by the DHPM.
Some of the assigned products will require the DHPM to manage each aspect of the product life cycle as a research project with the intent to publish peer reviewed work either about the process of the product development or an evaluation of the product.
The DHPM will be responsible for the management of several, diverse technical research projects spanning clinical AI model implementation to digital health solution development and implementation, technology hardening, and/or evaluation. The DHPM will interface and coordinate work with IT, clinical, and academic interest holders and support teams. The DHPM will report to the Data Programs Manager and work closely with the P4AI and DTI leadership teams and staff from project intake and gathering requirements to create technical specifications, establish work plans, assess risk and build contingency plans, resolve issues, and then implement and evaluate.
This position receives minimal guidance and requires the ability to work well independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will have strong technical, organization, project management, and communication (written and oral) skills to guide two multi-disciplinary teams and ensure deliverables are timely and meet requirements. This position also requires a high tolerance for ambiguity to research and develop solutions to undefined research topics. CLHSS is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in its staffing, operations, and research.

Effort will be split approximately evenly across project manager duties for the Program for Clinical AI (P4AI) and the Digital Technology Innovation (DTI) Program.
Position Description:
70%: Technical Project Management
Leads program project intake from service requests by helping to refine scope, facilitate requirements gathering, estimate resources needed, and set initial milestones
Manage the development of digital health products (e.g. patient facing apps, EHR integrated clinical decision support)
Each project will be scoped to help move the product through a portion of the product life cycle (i.e. ideation, product validation, prototyping, marketing/workflow integration plan, building, product launch, evaluation and improvement)
Develop and implement project plans including design and scope, planning, requirements gathering, development, implementation, evaluation and closure/dissemination
Oversee the breakdown of complex multifaceted research proposals into discrete interconnected pieces of work with clear outcomes defined and dependencies identified. E.g. Lead and facilitate structuring downstream integration of data flows, APIs, and other technologies within a matrixed IT environment
Oversee the management of graduate research assistants, coordinate staff resources and faculty expertise, monitor progress, and coordinate collaborative projects with other programs within the center
Ensure alignment of shared resources and project success by proactively engaging interest holders, managing expectations, and evaluating resource requirements/utilization
Own partnership with the M Health Fairview Learning Health System Program Manager and other staff for required resources and implementation of research projects
Lead regular meetings with research teams to establish priorities, check progress, identify and resolve issues including distribution of updates and ensuring next steps are complete
Create explanatory artifacts (e.g. project charter, work breakdown structure/roadmap, communication plan, slide deck, flow charts, timeline/dependencies, risk register, etc.) that help get and keep each team in sync.
Arrange writing of study results, preparing reports, and disseminating findings
Delegate quality control checks of data and proper storage in accordance with IRB and audit requirements
30%: Programmatic Support for Program for Clinical AI (P4AI) & Digital Technology Innovation (DTI) Program
Manages support for internal program projects (e.g. metrics tracking, annual report, development of educational materials, RA interviewing and hiring)
Assist in running of weekly co-director's meetings and bi-weekly full team meetings.
Consult with the CLHSS regulatory specialist to ensure that regulatory compliant standard operating procedures are followed throughout the P4AI and DTI portfolios
Serve as a key member of the CLHSS operations team to enhance the development and growth of CLHSS and its strategic goals
Work Arrangements:
This position follows UMN Work. With Flexibility. guidelines. Currently, the position will be primarily working from home.
