direction of the Supervisor, the Tissue Recovery Specialist (TRS) is
responsible for the surgical recovery and acquisition of tissue from
donors from referring agencies. Responsibilities Surgical recovery of
tissue from donors in hospital operating rooms, Medical Examiner/Coroner
offices, and funeral homes. Acquires donated birth tissues for
transplant and research following Versiti Organ and Tissue procedures
and protocols. Coordinates maintenance and cleaning of instruments and
equipment to ensure appropriate quality assurance standards are met.
Maintains inventory of supplies essential for recovery and acquisition
of tissue. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with
hospital, Medical Examiner/Coroner, and funeral home staff to maximize
donation opportunities and promote organ and tissue donation awareness.
May precept new TRS staff in conjunction with primary preceptor.
Coordinates and/or participates in various donation related community
activities/events as assigned. Maintains competence through attendance
at mandatory and other job-related educational opportunities. Actively
participates in Lean and continuous improvement activities. Follows
applicable laws, regulations, standards, policies and procedures that
impact specific job responsibilities and functions and performs assigned
